A tool, and the rules that come with it

What the extension is

Software that runs in your browser and saves media your browser can already play. VGrab provides no content of its own, hosts nothing, and does not circumvent DRM such as Widevine, FairPlay or PlayReady.

What you download is your own responsibility

What you save and what you do with it is up to you. You must comply with copyright, the terms of the sites you visit, and your local law. Personal, non-commercial use only.

DRM-protected content is refused

When content is encrypted with digital rights management (DRM) such as Widevine, FairPlay or PlayReady, the extension recognises it, tells you plainly that it cannot be saved, and stops. We do not build anything that circumvents DRM.

Site operators can ask us to stop

Some sites’ terms of service don’t allow downloading their content. We deliberately don’t work on those sites, and the extension tells you why. Run a site and don’t want this tool working on it? Send a request on the “Ask us to block your site” page, or email [email protected]. We’ll add your domain to the block list and write back.

No guarantee every site works

Websites change all the time. We don’t guarantee any site will keep working, or that a downloaded file will always play. We fix things when they break, but we don’t promise how well or how fast.

If something goes wrong, it’s on you

This is a free tool, provided as is. What you do with it and the consequences — including being restricted by a site, corrupted files, filling up your storage, and any legal dispute arising from downloaded content — are yours to bear; we accept no liability.

Open-source components

The extension bundles the open-source library mediabunny (MPL-2.0 license) for handling media file formats. Its full license text ships with the extension.

A few things you may not do

Do not use it to download content that infringes others’ copyright; do not use it to bypass paywalls or login limits; do not scrape whole sites in bulk; do not redistribute or commercialise what you download; do not use it for anything unlawful. Do these and the consequences are yours, not ours.

You must be 18 or older

This tool is for adults. If you’re under 18, please don’t use it.

These terms may change, and we may stop

We update these terms from time to time; the date is at the top of the page, and using the tool after a change means you accept it. We may also stop updating or take down the tool at any time, without notice.

Copyright complaints have their own address

Are you a copyright holder who believes VGrab or this website infringes your rights? Email the address below with the work concerned, proof that you hold the rights, and the URLs involved. We reply within 5 business days.
