Video downloader: no daily quota, no sign-up

VGrab is a browser extension: no daily quota, no waiting between downloads, no time cap on live recordings, any quality option the site offers, no sign-up, and no premium-only features. This page explains what each of those means, how it works, and what VGrab does not do.

What that means, point by point

Some days there's more than one video you want to keep, and some of them run two hours. VGrab isn't split into tiers by count, length or feature. Install it and you have everything:

  • No daily quota: download as many videos a day as you like; there is no "allowance used up".
  • No waiting between downloads: start the next one as soon as the last one is done, no cool-down. To run several at once, set "Videos at once" to anything from 1 to 5 in the settings.
  • Any length: a two-hour film downloads the same way as a two-minute clip; no "upgrade for videos over 30 minutes".
  • No time cap on live recordings: it records until you press stop, limited only by free disk space; very long recordings start a new file every 1 GB.
  • Quality set by the site: save at any quality option the site offers; the video goes into an MP4 as-is, not one frame re-encoded, no watermark.
  • No sign-up: no email, no account, no phone number.
  • One edition: parallel fetching, downloading just one part, audio only, live recording and resume are all included.

How it works

VGrab is a browser extension. Detection, downloading, merging and saving all happen on your own computer and never pass through our servers, so there's no reason to cap you by count or length. The website carries ads that pay for the domain and upkeep; the extension itself shows no ads.

Two steps

  1. Open the video page and press play.
  2. Click the extension icon. The video and a quality are already chosen; press Save. It lands in your download folder with a notification.

No settings, no switches, no copying an address first. Just one click.

What it downloads

  • Streams: M3U8 (HLS) and DASH. Hundreds of pieces are joined into one MP4.
  • Whole files: MP4, WEBM, FLV, including ones that "Save as" refuses.
  • Separate video and audio tracks: merged into one file with sound.
  • Live streams: click to start recording, click to stop, get a playable file; works even when the player exposes no address.

What VGrab does not do

We don't support YouTube, because its terms of service don't allow downloading. DRM-protected content cannot be downloaded: Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady. The extension recognises it, tells you plainly and stops, with no circumvention. No site is targeted: not one site name in the code; it recognises video formats, so no site gets special treatment either. A site operator who does not want it working on their site can ask for a block on the website; we act on it.

One reminder

Being able to download something doesn't mean you should: save only content you're entitled to, follow the terms of the sites you visit and your local law, personal non-commercial use only. That's in the terms of service, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to: no site targeting, no DRM, no uploading. The three principles are on the About page.

Questions

Is it fast? Several parts are fetched at once and written straight into one file; an hour-long video finishes in minutes, and it backs off when a site rate-limits.

Anything else to install? No. Joining pieces and merging audio and video all happen inside the extension, and even files that "Save as" refuses get saved. No converter needed.

Which browsers? Chrome, Edge, and Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and other browsers on the same engine, from a store or the ZIP package. Mobile browsers don't support extensions.

One last thing: VGrab is free. If that ever changes, we'll say so on this site first.
